Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take my insurance?

I am a private pay therapist, which means my clients pay me directly at the time of service. I am considered out of network with insurance, and can provide a Superbill for you to file an out of network claim with your insurance company if you want to seek reimbursement.

What is your approach to treatment?

I am trained in many treatment modalities, including EFT, DBT, EMDR, play therapy, person-centered talk therapy, motivational interviewing, ego state/parts work, mindfulness. I base my treatment approach on each individual and their needs, but I often interweave elements of all of these modalities into my treatment over time. We can discuss that in the first session and figure out an approach that feels like a good fit based on your needs.

Do you see couples?

I love working with couples to find better ways to communicate, connect, and build healthy relationships! I offer couples therapy using Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and I also offer EFT Couples Intensives, which are 1, 2, or 3 day mini couples retreats where I work with you and your partner directly to make progress faster than in traditional couples therapy. Perfect for couples who have hectic schedules, travel frequently, find it hard to build momentum with weekly therapy, or just need more intense healing now.

What ages do you see?

I am trained to work with all ages, from 2 up. However, at this time I have chosen to focus on clients ages 18 and up. I do occasionally make exceptions to work with teens, so if you have a teenager you feel could benefit from therapy, let’s talk and see if it could be a good fit.

Why are you online only?

I previously saw clients in person, but made the transition when COVID-19 hit to online therapy and coaching. This has been a really incredible shift in the accessibility of therapy, because you can skip the drive and squeeze therapy into your lunch break, as you work from home, etc. It also allows me to provide therapy to any individual in MO instead of being limited to local clients only. Eventually, I plan to re-open a physical office space and continue to offer Telehealth as well, so you can choose what suits you best.

What will therapy be like?

It’s natural to be nervous getting started. When we first meet, I will want to get to know you and your situation, so I can better understand you and what you want to work on. I will ask you questions and together we will come up with a plan for how to work towards your goals. I will meet you every step of the way with kindness, validation, and positive energy.
